The Planning Committee is currently finalising the conference programme and is now at a point where we would like to invite expressions of interest from the IUISC Community and elsewhere for papers to be presented at the workshops.

We invite short papers and presentations (about 30 minutes in duration) from staff who are interested in informing the IUISC community of interesting developments, initiatives and service innovations.  While we have identified some specific subject areas below, we would welcome contributions on any area of relevance to the IUISC community.

The theme of the conference is examing the challenges faced by services in supporting research and learning in tomorrow's world.

The three conference strands are:

  1. Technology futures
  2. Research and learning  -  examining support issues
  3. Exploring the challenges

Specific headings which may prompt submissions include:

  • Emerging technologies

  • Developing co-operative strategies for libraries and computer centres

The deadline for receipt of expressions of interest and a brief (one paragraph) abstract is 31 January 2008. Please direct proposals to iuisc2008-call-for-presentations@listserv.heanet.ie or to any member of the Committee:

  • Each proposal will be reviewed against the following criteria:
  • relevance to the conference theme and strands
  • relevance to the IUISC community
  • clarity and coherence of the proposal
  • evaluation of educational impact, practice and or/policy
  • opportunities for participants to actively engage in the session and to reflect on transferability to their own practice.
