Alan Oliver. Since February 2007 Alan Oliver has been Business Development Manager with Ex Libris (UK) Ltd. In a career spanning almost 10 years in the library-automation industry, Alan was previously a Sales Account Manager with Ex Libris and held various positions with epixtech and Ameritech Library Services (now SirsiDynix). Alan has always been involved in libraries – prior to joining Ameritech Library Services, Alan undertook roles at Napier University, Central Regional Council Schools Library Service, the University of Stirling, and BP Chemicals.

Anne McMahon is currently the Librarian for Electronic Servics in the University of Limerick. Previous to this she worked as a Subject Librarian in UL for the colleges of Engineering and Education. Anne completed the Higher Diploma in Library & Information Studies in UCD in 1997/1998 and in 2005 she completed a Graduate Diploma in Digital Media Development in Education in the University of Limerick.  This course gave her a great insight into the design and development of online educational products.

Anthony Crotty has worked for the Systems and Network Engineering group in the Computer Centre of University College Cork for over four and a half years. His role in UCC involves working with Microsoft Products and Technologies including Active Directory, Exchange Server, Windows Server and Virtualization. He has worked previously for Computing Services in University College Dublin, E*Trade Web Services Ireland, Seagate Ireland and Intel  Ireland. He is certified by Microsoft as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer in Windows Server 2003.

Barbara McDonald, B.A., M.A., Dip.Lib., ALAI, is an Assistant Librarian in the Collection Management Department in Trinity College Library with responsibilities across a range of activities including subject and non-book cataloguing; the Shared Cataloguing Programme including NACO submissions; and systems liaison with Infor/Geac, CURL, RLG/OCLC. From 1994-2000, she was the Stella Project Manager overseeing the retrospective conversion of c.250,000 catalogue records for older books to the OPAC, and coordinating TCD's participation in the ISOS (Irish Scripts on Screen) Project to create digital images of Irish language manuscripts.

Barry O’Sullivan is a systems analyst in the Computer Centre, University College Cork (UCC). Barry joined UCC in 2003 having worked for a number of organisations in the private sector. Since joining UCC Barry has worked mainly on internal oracle database systems and applications, including on-line transactional systems, reporting and business intelligence solutions.

Brendan Lynch. Brendan joined the Information Technology Department in UL in 2000. He has worked on many of the new system implementations in the University from Student Record to Finance and HR. Most recently he was involved in the implementation of the Sakai e-learning platform within the University.

Caroline Hackman is Team Leader in Customer Services Team in UCD IT Services.She has worked in UCD for 10 years starting her career as front linesupport for students. After promotions within the organisation, shemanaged student IT support for 5 years until the amalgamation ofstudent and staff IT support services in 2006 when she then joined the newly formed Customer Services Team as Team Lead.

Christo Christowitz is the Director: Marketing and Sales of the Integrated Tertiary Software (Pty) Ltd group of companies.  He joined ITS in 1990 after spending 10 years in the IT department at the University of Cape Town.  He is also involved with the further development of the ITS system. 

Claire Moran is Serials Librarian in the Bibliographic Services Dept. in UCD Library. Over the last 2 years she has been involved in the implementation of the Serials Solutions’ Access & Management Suite (AMS) to manage the Library’s growing number of e-journals and aggregated databases. Currently she is a member of the Working Group established to introduce Serials Solutions’ ArticleLinker and ERMS (Electronic Resource Management System). Claire has represented UCD Library on the CONUL Sub-Committee on Preservation.

David Allen manages the CMC Systems Team at Queens University Belfast – providing Email services, Directory services, support for Web Infrastructure and support for Collaborative Working. He is currently engaged in a doctoral programme with Middlesex University, exploring the role and effectiveness of Public Key Infrastructures in enabling the re-engineering of traditional business processes as online processes (principally through their support for Digital Signatures). David is a Chartered Engineer and a member of both the Institution of Engineering & Technology and the Chartered Management Institute.

David Coughlan has been in the IT Industry for over 20 years. He spent 10 years with Digital Equipment Corporation (Ireland) Ltd, five years working in the internal IT Department and 5 years as a consultant. During his time with Digital, He won an international award and received several local/national awards.
David has also worked primarily in the Financial Services Sector for both indigenous and multinational companies, some based in the IFSC.  David has always focused on the area of IT operations and has assisted companies in setting up support groups and implementing operational policies and procedures.
David has been with UCD since May 2006

Donal Lyons is currently a System Analyst in Trinity College, withresponsibility for Academic and Research Support.  These systemsinclude the in-house developed Research Support System togetherwith its integrated Institutional Repository, and the Student InformationSystem.He is also involved in procurement for some COTS systems.  Previouslyhe has been Data Warehouse Manager, and a Lecturer on Systems Design and Development in Trinity College Dublin.

Diarmuid Stokes has been in  since 1994 and is currently the VeterinaryMedicine Librarian in University College Dublin. In previous postswithin University College Dublin Library he has been a liaison librarian for the Sciences and a Disability Support Librarian. He is one of the co-creators of the UCD Library Science blog.

Edmund English. Ed is a graduate of the University of Limerick & has been with Dell since 1998. During this time Ed has held a number of positions within the company from Process Engineering, Services, Brand Management, Product Development & most recently Product Marketing. This broad remit has seen Ed work in many of Dell's offices worldwide. He returns to Europe having spent 2 years in South Asia where he lead Dell's Enterprise Brand Team in the region. He's current remit is that of EMEA Server Business Manager based out of Glasgow where he's responsibilities include managing Dell's enterprise portfolio with specific emphasise on "Power & Cooling in the Data Centre" & the " PowerEdge Modular Blade" solutions.

Evan Ryder A software developer with over 15 years experience, Evan has specialised in Internet development for the last 10 years.  His experience includes the development of internet e-commerce websites, specialist intranets, and integrated online content management / reporting solutions for the hotel, manufacturing, tourist, and IT markets.
Evan is also a certified ethical hacker (CEH) and experienced Web/database administrator on both Windows and *nix platforms.  In 1992, he joined computer services, NUI Galway, where he is responsible for Web and database server administration, security and bespoke functionality.

Helen Guerin is the Director of the UCD Audio Visual Centre, IT Services and is responsible for leading the educational technology and media services team. She has acted as the National Nominee to the European Commission (Information Society Technologies Programme - Technology Enhanced Learning), is on the Executive of the All Ireland Society for Higher Education, is Chair of the CFC Development Agency for the Moving Image and is a former member of UCD President’s Awards and Grants Committee and the UCD Teaching Committee. More importantly, she is from Cork!

Jane O'Neill is Library Systems Manager at Queen's University Belfast and has over 15 years experience working in a variety of roles within academic libraries. Jane's current role involves the management of the Talis Library Management System at Queen's University, which also includes the provision of the service to three other institutions under a hosting arrangement (Stranmillis University College, St Mary's University College and the Linen Hall Library).
In her current role, Jane has been at the forefront of Queen's University's drive to integrate library services systems with the University Campus portal, with the ultimate aim of creating a one stop seamless interface for users.

James Healy worked in UCC over twenty years ago at the National Microelectronics Research Centre under Gerry Wrixon at the time.
Since then he has been working in DCU primarily in the area of Networking. At present James is the Network Manager for DCU working within the Computer Services Department, and is sometimes called upon to branch into other areas, which are not necessarily related to Networking. Hence his project management of the DCU Learning cafe - The Mezz. James has presented previously at IUISC on a number of occasions with regard to a wide range of topics.

James Henry. James has been with HP for 10 years originally joining Compaq’s EMEA Presales Technology Group in Munich in November ’96. James worked in Munich for 4 years before moving to the EMEA Competence Center in Sophia Antipolis which is located in the South of France. He moved back to Ireland only last year where he now works as a ProLiant & BladeSystem specialist at HP Ireland. His main focus areas include BladeSystem solutions and related technologies including server consolidation and virtualisation.

John McDonough is the Project Manger for the Irish Virtual Research Library and ArchiveProject.  Previously,John has worked as Archivist (Electronic Records) in the National Archives of Ireland and alsomanaged RTERadio's Archive Project that digitised much of RTE's substantial audio collections.  John hasan HDip in ArchivalStudies from UCD and an MSc in Internet Systems from DCU.

John Murphy Over 20 years experience in the IT industry mainly in the education sector. Held a number of technical positions including technical management positions before joining the Senior Management team in April 2000. All of these at TCD. As Deputy Director of Information Systems Services have responsibility for a number of groups including Computer Systems, Newtorks and User Support and training functions.
Main focus is on strategic direction decision-making and alligning the department with the business needs of the university as well as budgeting.
Have a number of technical and management qualifications including an MBA (Technology Management), MA, MSc and BSc and a number of technical diplomas. A member of the following professional organisations MBCS, IEI, CMI.

Josh Clark has been an Assistant Librarian in the Sciences at UniversityCollege Dublin for the past 3 years. During this time he hasinvestigated with colleagues the application of Web 2.0 technologies inthe library setting. He is one of the co-creators of the UCD LibraryScience blog, found at http://ucdscience.blogspot.com. Before UCD, Joshworked at Lendac Data Systems in Dublin, assisting in the creation ofinformation products for CD-ROM and the Web.

Mahon McNamara After graduating from UCC with a degree in Computer Science in 1999, Mahon commenced work with EMC in Cork in a technical support capacity.  After 6 months he then moved to Bray, Co. Wicklow, as a programmer with Softworks Ireland. Then in 2001 joined Syselog in Paris in a technical support/programming capacity.  He has been working in DCU for the last 4 years, initially in helpdesk support, before taking on the role of Desktop Development Supervisor, where he is now charged with the support and maintenance of the DCU desktop infrastructure.

Martin Reid is an analyst with the Training and Assessment Unit, Queen's University Belfast. He is the author of two books, SQL: From Access to SQL Server and Beginning Access 2002 VBA. In addition Martin has authored several Microsoft White Papers on technologies such as Large Scale SQL Server Management to Developer extensions in FrontPage 2003.You will also find articles and papers written by Martin at www.devx.com <http://www.devx.com/> , www.techrepublic.com <http://www.techrepublic.com/>  and www.builder.com <http://www.builder.com/> .
Martin also acts as a technical editor for two of the leading USA technical book publishers, Sybex and Apress on subjects ranging from Oracle PL/SQL, Share Point Server  to Dreamweaver MX and Microsoft .NET programming. He has also been a contributing editor to SQL Server Solutions, Inside Microsoft Access and Smart Access, the leading Microsoft database publications in the USA.
Martins latest book Professional Microsoft Office Access 2007 will be published in April 2007.

Martina Tedford is a Senior Systems Analyst for Queen's University Belfast. She has a wide range of experience in the software industry and has been involved in several major commercial software projects within the Financial and Telecommunications Industry. Experience to date covers the full software life cycle from requirements gathering to customer acceptance sign-off.  Martina is currently a part of the Library Systems team at Queen's and has been heavily involved in development/system projects within this area.

Maria Heijne worked since 1978 for a number of years at several libraries. Since 1983, her interests have been focused on the technological and innovative developments in the field of (international) libraries, such as library automation with Geac Ltd and electronic networking with SURFnet- in both situations working in projects throughout Europe.In 1999 she became the deputy Librarian at Delft University of Technology Library and in 2001 she was appointed Library Director.Since July 2005 Maria is chairing the cooperative network of Dutch University Libraries.Since June 2006 she is President of IATUL (International Association of Technological University Libraries).

Michael Nowlan has been Director of the Information Systems Services atTrinity College Dublin since 1995. Prior to that he headed up the service inthe Computer Science Department in TCD. He is a director of the Irish HigherEducation and Research Network HEAnet and was involved in the startup of the first commercial ISP in Ireland.

Niall Watts is the Educational Technology Officer in UCD IT Services. His role is to promote and develop educational technology within the university with a particular emphasis on online learning. Prior to joining UCD in 2004, he worked for over 20 years in the elearning and computer-based training industry. He has a MA in Zoology and H.Dip.Ed from Trinity College Dublin and is about to complete an MSc on Blogs in Education with the Open University.

Niamh Brennan is Research Support System Administrator in Trinity College Dublin. In addition to her work on the College Research Support System, Niamh is Project & Business Process Manager for TCD’s integrated institutional repository. Based in the Library, and under the direction of the Dean of Research, she works collaboratively with the College’s Research Office and with colleagues in Management Information.Systems (part of the College Information Systems Services Department.

Niamh is a member of the national Expertise Ireland Advisory Group, of the Irish University Association’s Researcher Mobility Portal Advisory Group and of RISE (Research Information Systems Exchange). As a member of the IUA Librarian’s Institutional Repositories Working Group, she works with colleagues from the other Irish universities towards establishing local repositories in each university in Ireland along with a national federated repositories harvesting service. She is a member of the development board of the NDLR (National Digital Learning Repository) working in the area of interoperability.

Peter Ruijgrok In 1976 Peter started at Harris as an "Operating Systems" programmer and switched to a management position responsible for development and support of the operating system, databases and development tools. After 15 years he switched to application development and had several management positions at smaller companies and for 7 years with the very large ERP vendor Baan. Starting 2004 he has the position of "Head of ICT" for the Library of the University of Utrecht and is reponsible for all applications and technical IT infrastructure of the library. Peter is actively participating in several "Repository related" workinggroups in the Netherlands, under the umbrulla of Surf, and is chairman of the Dutch Dspace Usergroup.

Rosalind Pan is the Sub-Librarian for Electronic Services at UCD Library. She has worked at UCD Library since January 2005, and previously worked at the University of Durham. The current post involves a mix of leadership of some electronic service areas notably the website; co-ordinating strategic e-service developments to get an integrated Library-wide framework; and various development projects which currently include eBooks, Institutional Repository, website development, cross-search and OpenURL.

Sinead O'Geran joined the Enterprise Applications Group in the Computer Centre in UCC in January 2003.  Previous to this Sinead worked in University College Dublin and in the Health Service Executive.  Since joining UCC Sinead has worked on the implementation and support of central administration systems.

Dr. Susan Copeland is the Senior Information Adviser (Research) at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. She is a member of the Steering Committee of ‘GUIDE’, the European group that was recently created to promote e-theses, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD). As co-chair of the ‘ETD 2008’ conference committee, she will play a key role in organising this annual symposium on electronic theses and dissertations in the UK.

Seán O Farrell Director Management Information Services National University of Ireland Galway. B. Sc(Computer Science) TCD.   Twenty eight years experience in the IT industry having worked in IT in both the public and private sector. Currently responsible for the management and delivery of the major applications which support the University’s administration. 

J. D. Trevor Peare,Currently Keeper (Readers' Services) at Trinity College Library for thelast three years. Previously, Keeper (Systems) for over twelve years,where he was at the centre of the transformation from automating manualactivities to delivery of Library services online. In his current role, Trevor maintains his interest in the use of theInternet to deliver the Library's resources to all users.  The users' experience of "Library" as a place and as an information resourcesupplier is separating and the dynamics of this change exercise him greatly!
