WALLACE EWART
Professor Wallace Ewart was appointed
Director of the Springvale Project in1994. Prior to this he held
positions of Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management and
Dean of the Faculty of Informatics at the University of Ulster.
His other posts have included Director of the School of Computer
Science at the Ulster Polytechnic, Head of the newly formed Data
Processing Departmenty at Queen's University Belfast for six years
and Head of the newly formed Oxford University Management Services
Department for three years. Over a long period, Professor Ewart
has advised many universities on the application of information
technology to University administration; this has included directing
courses and providing consultancy advice to Universities in the
UK, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, Hong Kong, Fiji and Australia.
In 1998 he was appointed Pro Vice Chancellor and Provost of the
Belfast campus of the University of Ulster, retaining responsibility
for the Springvale Project. As well as the Springvale development,
he is actively involved in planning the redevelopment of the Belfast
Campus itself, to significantly increase its size and to complement
the development of Cathedral Quarter, an historical and cultural
quarter within the centre of Belfast contributing to the economic
performance of both the City Centre and the wider city region.
Professor Ewart was awarded an OBE in 1997 for services to higher
education.
