Coach from Newry Station to Slieve Donard Hotel

A coach will leave Newry Station for the hotel at 12:30pm on Wednesday 20 March, timed to meet delegates from the Dublin train arriving Newry at 12:13pm.
For the return journey the coach will leave the hotel at 1.45pm on Friday 22 March, timed for passengers returning on the Dublin train departing Newry station at 3.00pm.

Main Routes

>From Cork

Follow N8 to Portlaoise, then M7, N7 in Dublin direction.
Join the M50 ring road at Junction 9. Leave the M50 at
Junction 3, heading north on the M1, then N1 (following signs
for Belfast and The North) to Newry.

Leave Newry bypass at roundabout for Belfast and follow signs
for Newry Town Centre. Look for signs either A25 to Rathfriland
and Castlewellan or A2 to Warrenpoint, Kilkeel and continue to
Newcastle. Avoid mountain roads via Hilltown. For map of

On arrival at Newcastle

>From Belfast Road

Turn left at large roundabout approaching town and keep in left-hand
lane. Pass Ulster Bus depot on left and entrance to Slieve Donard
is short distance on left beside public car park.

>From Castlewellan Road

Proceed round large roundabout approaching town and follow directions
as Belfast Road above.

>From Newry-Kilkeel Road

Follow Belfast signs from one-way traffic turn at traffic lights.
Move to right-hand lane and take first right turn into Shimna Rd.
Move to left-hand lane on Shimna Road, following directions for
Belfast through next traffic lights to large roundabout. Go right
round roundabout back towards Newcastle, following directions as for
Belfast Road above.

>From Galway

Take the N6 towards Dublin, travel as far as Kilbeggan, then leave the
N6 for the N52. Proceed via Mullingar, Kells, Ardee to Dundalk. Take
N1 north and follow through to Newry, and follow directions above as
per Cork.

>From Limerick

Take N7 towards Portlaoise, then follow directions above as per Cork.

>From Dublin

Take N1 via Drogheda or N2 via Slane and Ardee to Dundalk and Newry,
then follow directions above as per Cork.

>From Belfast

M1 west and exit at J6 (for Lisburn). Follow sign for Ballynahinch at
roundabout just off exit. Proceed through Ballynahinch (one-way
traffic - look for signs). Continue via Clough, Dundrum to Newcastle
and follow directions above from roundabout.

Or, follow signs for Newcastle from Belfast city centre via
Carryduff. At Carryduff roundabout take sign for Ballynahinch and
proceed as above.

The IUISC 2002 Conference taking place from Wednesday 20th March to Friday 22 March 2002 at the Slieve Donard Hotel, Newcastle, is organised by the University of Ulster and supported by the Queen's University of Belfast.
