John Boland

John Boland is Chief Executive of HEAnet, Ireland's National Research Network. He was appointed to the position in October 1997. Having joined DCU in 1990 he worked at Dublin City University as Systems and Networks Manager in the Computer Services Department and represented DCU on the HEAnet Network Management Committee.
Prior to this he worked in industry - with Marconi Communications Systems and Motorola Information Systems Limited.

Currently John represents HEAnet on the Geant Policy Committee, a collaboration between the European National Research Networks delivering advanced pan-European research and education networking.
He is also a member of the TERENA General Assembly (Trans European Research and Education Networking Association) and on the international task force for Internet2.
