Guidelines
for Speakers
-
Find out
who is your session chairman in good time and make yourself known to them.
They may want to get some background information about you.
-
Prepare
your slides using PowerPoint, email the slides in to the organising committee
at least a week before the conference. Remember to keep the fonts big on
the slides and do not put more than 8 lines of text per slide.
-
Try out
your presentation in the room that you have been assigned, go down the room
and see how they look!
-
Don't have
too many slides, a good guide would be one slide per minute at the most.
-
It is generally
expected that speakers will attend the whole conference to understand the
context.
In each
session room there will be an overhead projector as well as a Windows-98
PC attached to a data projector.
This PC will run PowerPoint. It is expected that presentations will be mostly
in PowerPoint and speakers are requested to send a copy of their PowerPoint
presentation to
Michael.Nowlan@tcd.ie and
kate.cotter@ucc.ie ahead of the
conference. These presentations will eventually be put up on the conference
website.
It should be possible to use the presenter's own PC by plugging it into the
data projector. All presentations should be installed on the relevant PC
well in advance of the session involved and should be tested by running right
through the presentation.
35mm slide projectors and internet connections will not be available for
presentation purposes. |
